Ruis Hughes Garrison
Ruis Garrison Dies at IAA Convention Sadness struck at the annual meeting, particularly for Jefferson County Farm Bureau folks. The county secretary of organization, Ruis Garrison, Mt. Vernon, died suddenly on Monday at the Sherman hotel. Mr. Garrison, 62, succumbed to an apparent heart attack shortly after arising. With his wife, he was attending his 16th consecutive annual meeting. He had been a general and special agent for IAA Insurance Services and county organization director for 14 years. He was appointed full-time secretary of organization in 1957. Born on a farm near Mt. Vernon, he attended rural schools there. He lived on the family farm near Mt. Vernon until one month ago, when he and Mrs. Garrison moved into a new home in Mt. Vernon. While actively farming in 1941 and 1942, Mr. Garrison served on the Jefferson County Farm Bureau board. Mr. Garrison is survived by the widow; a son, LeBen, of Mt. Vernon; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Bridgers. of Mt. Vernon, and six granddaughters.
