Robert E. "Rocky" Gilbert, 34, of Mt. Vernon, died at 8:17 pm Monday at Good Samaritan Hospital.

He was the manager of the Pioneers Quartet, and secretary-treasurer of the Muscular Dystrophy foundation in Mt. Vernon.

He was employed as a teller at the Bank of Illinois in Mt. Vernon.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Thursday at Myers Chapel. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Friends may call at Myers Chapel after 6pm Wednesday.

He was born in Mt. Vernon on July 7, 1940, the son of William A. and Alice L. (Cluck) Gilbert.

Mr. Gilbert was a member of the Church of Bethesda.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William A. Gilbert, of Mt. Vernon; a brother, Bill, of Mt. Vernon; and three sisters, Mrs. Nadine Jenkins and Mrs. Catheline Gibbs, both of Mt. Vernon, and Mrs. Dueene Shields, of Loves Park.
