CONFEDERATE VETERAN DIES IN 98TH YEAR

James W. Glover, Who Served in Civil War Dies; Funeral Held at 1:30 This Afternoon.

James W. Glover, veteran of the Civil War and one of the oldest residents of Jefferson county, died at four o'clock Saturday afternoon at the County Farm Home. His age was 97 years, four months and 13 days.

Mr. Glover, widely known and respected in this county served under General Morgan and General Price in the Confederate army. He was one of the few surviving veterans of the lost cause in the United States. He had been in falling health for some time.

Mr. Glover was born Aug. 18, 1840 in Hannibal, MO.

He was united in marriage with Jane Smith, who preceded him in death years ago.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 o'clock this afternoon at Myers Chapel, with Rev. Cyrus Maulding conducting the services. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery.

He is survived by two sons, Charles M. Glover of Mt. Vernon and J.A. Glover of Waterman, Ill., 17 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
