Maxine (Riggs) Allen Dycus Goree

Maxine (Dycus) Goree, 78, of West Frankfort, died 1 p.m. March 23, 2007, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Mrs. Goree was a former employee of Mt. Vernon Shoe Factory.

Born on April 21, 1928, in Bonnie, she was a daughter of Parley and Verne (Spurlock) Riggs.

She first married Gerald Allen.

She later married John Edgar Dycus.

She married Lewis Goree on Oct. 19, 1999, in Piggott, Ark., and he survives.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kirk Cemetery in Ina with Mr. Randy Allison officiating. There will be no public visitation.

Survivors include her husband, Lewis G. Goree of West Frankfort; four sons: Ron Dycus and wife Barbara of Springfield, Rick Allen and wife Marilyn of Mt. Vernon, Al Allen of Marion, and John Steve Dycus and wife Barbara of Marion; a brother: Robert Riggs of Dallas, Texas; seven grandchildren: Chad Allen and Shanda M. Allen of Arizona, Evan Dycus of Illinois, Julia Allen of Texas, Fred Jarrell of Mississippi, Stephanie L. Dickerson of Illinois, and Robbie Dunn of Illinois, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands and a sister, Frieda Lee.

She was a member of Heartland Christian Church in Marion and the ladies auxiliary of the Mt. Vernon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.

For those who wish, memorials may be given to the American Heart Association and will be accepted at Hughey Funeral Home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mount Vernon, Ill. 62864.
