Leora (Cole) Gornatti
Leora Gornatti, 88, of Herrin died March 2, 1999, at Marion Memorial Hospital. She worked at Woodway Store in Benton and was owner and operator of the Heights Food Shop in Herrin. She was born in Jefferson County on February 21, 1911, a daughter of Edgar Ovid and Ada Cole. She married Frank Henry Gornatti, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Gornatti is survived by one daughter, Mary Katherine Kucharik and husband Tom of Herrin; 2 granddaughters, Amy L. Kucharik of Carbondale and Laura L. Kucharik of Decatur; 3 sisters, Gladys Book of Tulsa, OK; LaVerne Donahoe and husband Ed of Waterloo, Iowa, and Evelyn Laur and husband Robert of Ina. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, Shirley Richards and Viola Taylor. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Herrin with the Rev. John F. Seibert officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Herrin. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin.
