Laura Bell (Phillips) Green
Laura Bell Green, age 84 of Waltonville, died 7:06 p.m. May 18, 2009, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. She was born Sept. 2, 1924, in Coelleo, the daughter of Loren and Gladys (Downen) Phillips. She married Walter W. Green on March16, 1946, in Morganfield, Ky. During World War II she worked in La Port, Ind., in an ammunition defense plant and has also worked for a sewing factory in Sesser. She also was a member of Waltonville VFW Post 9153 Ladies Auxillary and a founding member of Waltonville Village Pride Committee. She is survived by her husband, Walter W. Green of Waltonville; two daughters, Cheryl and husband Jack Bicanich of Waltonville and Debra and husband Russell Dalby of Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Sally and husband Ron Sikma of Bonnie and Wilma Peerbolt of Waltonville; five grandchildren, Brian "Ty" Bicanich and wife Lisa, Heather Bicanich and special friend Brian Dever, Emily and husband Eric Gentles, Sarah Dalby and Russell Matthew Dalby; five great-grandchildren, Kaylie, Evan, and Jadyn Bicanich and Madi and Mason Gentles; and also many nieces and nephews. Laura was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Norman Phillips; and one sister, Irene Eldridge. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville with Pastor Tim Reynolds officiating with burial to follow at Knob Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home in Waltonville from 5 until 8 p.m. on Thursday.For those wishing, memorials may be made to Knob Prairie Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home.
