Ira Sue Grigg, 73, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois died at 5:39 P.M. Thursday, February 22, 2007 at her home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

She was born on January 1, 1934 in Mounds, Illinois the daughter of Ira Jack Marchbanks and Isabelle Marchbanks.

She married William R. "Bill" Grigg on February 20, 1960 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and he preceded her in death on June 22, 2005.

She was the Co-Owner and Operator of Grigg's Market in Downtown Mt. Vernon with her husband Bill.

Graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, February 25, 2007 at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Reverend Bob Meyer will officiate. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 24, 2007 from 5 to 7:00 P.M. at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

Surviving family members include: Daughter: Mary Elizabeth Wallace and special friend Wade of Kell, Illinois and One Nephew.

Her parents, husband, Son: Sean Grigg, 2 Sisters: Charlene Chandler and Edna Calvin preceded her in death.

She was a member of Victory Christian Center where she helped with secretarial work. She was a tutor at Casey Middle School. She was a member of Mt. Vernon Crime Stoppers, Southern Illinois Senior Council and the Mt. Vernon Chapter of Bereaved Parents.

For those who wish, memorials may be given to the Mt. Vernon Crime Stoppers or Victory Christian Center and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, Illinois 62864.
