Gertrude Agnes Grimes, 93, of St. Louis, Mo., died Monday at 9:25 am at the Elder Care Nursing Home in East Alton.

She was a former resident of Mt. Vernon and for many years was a sales clerk at Carp's Department Store.

She was born in Effingham County on Dec. 25, 1885, the daughter of Allen and Fanney (Rainer) Maxey.

She married Francis Grimes in Benton in May, 1917, and he preceded her in death on March 25, 1967.

She was a member of the Methodist faith.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 am at the Myers-Baril Chapel with Dr. Billy G. Hahs officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery. Friends may call after 5 pm today at the funeral chapel.

Mrs. Grimes is survived by one son, Maxey L. Grimes of St. Louis, Mo., and several nieces and nephews.
