Leona Maxine (Mamer) Haley
Leona Maxine Haley, 68, of Chenoa, died at 8 am Sept. 30, 1993, in her home. She had been employed at Owens-Illinois Glass Co. in Streator for several years.She was born May 31, 1925 in St. Louis to Homer and Stella Marcella (Caudle) Mamer. In 1943 in Hopkinsville, Ky. she married Samuel F. Haley Jr., who survives. Graveside services will be conducted 1:30 pm Saturday in the Hopewell Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, with the Rev. Earl Hardyman, officiating. Friends may call from 11 am until 1 pm Saturday in the Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Pontiac. She was well known doll collector and artist. Survivors include her husband, Samuel F. Haley Jr. of Chenoa; three sons, Samuel H. Haley and wife Gloria of Odell, William Haley and wife Paula of Houston, Texas, and Michael Haley and wife Crissie of Mentor, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Lyn Haley of Bronson, Fla.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Homer Mamer Jr. of Sabastin, Fla. and James Mamer and wife Doris of Streator; three sisters, Dorothy Lowery and husband Rev. Paul Lowery of Bluford, Helen Rogers and husband Harold Rogers of Clearview, Utah, and Ruth Helpingstine of Tampa, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Ronald Haley.
