Mayme Cecil (Nelson) Haley

Mayme Cecil Haley, 81, 716 Meadowbrook Rd., died 11:50 am May 20, 1988, in United Samaritan Medical Center (Logan Campus) in Danville.

Mrs. Haley was a beautician for area nursing homes until retirement.

Mrs. Haley was born Aug. 20, 1906, in Jefferson County, a daughter of Charles B. and Laveda (Hayes) Nelson.

June 6, 1922, in Jefferson County, she married Samuel F. Haley, who died Sept. 29, 1961.

Services will be 11:30 am Monday at Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Max Borah officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery. Friends may call after 9:30 am Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Haley is survived by four sons, Lee Haley and wife Polly of Checotah, Okla., Sam Haley Jr. and wife Leona of Chenoa, Wilbur Haley and wife Vivian of Mt. Vernon and Wayne Haley and wife Tola of Dwight; three daughters, Mrs. Wesley (Virginia) Lemay of Danville, Dorothy Shipman of Benton and Mrs. Jack (Mary) Runnels of Seffner, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Byford Nelson of LaPorte, Ind.; one sister, Dorothy Bell of Belleville; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Haley was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Bluford.

Mrs. Haley was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one infant daughter, four sisters and two brothers.
