Holly Heloice Hall, 86, passed away 2:55 a.m. Oct. 23, 2004, at Houston Hospice House in Houston, Texas.

She was a longtime resident of Jacksonville, Ark., and a member of First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Hall was born July 25, 1918, in Mt. Vernon, a twin daughter of the late Clyde E. and Evelyn Jester Adams.

She married Lt. Col. John C. Hall, deceased, in 1941 and moved to Jacksonville, Ark., in 1956 upon his B-47 bomber pilot assignment to Strategic Air Command's newest base, Little Rock Air Force Base. She was an unsung heroine of the cold war, managing single-handedly a household and raising their two children, living in numerous states and foreign countries while her husband was flying missions.

Mrs. Hall received her B.S.E. and M.S.E. from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Ark., and was a career educator, serving as teacher and principal in the North Little Rock School District.

Mrs. Hall was also preceded in death by her twin sister, Helen A. Reynolds of Mt. Vernon.

She is survived by a daughter, Lynn E. Barron and husband Joe T. of Houston, Texas; a son, John C. Hall of Lakeway, Texas; a grandson, Jay T. Barron of Austin, Texas; a sister, Leslie Ellis of Chester; and a nephew, Richard Benson of Nairobi, Kenya, South Africa.

Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Those attending the services are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Wednesday. There will be no public visitation. Memorials may be made to Houston Hospice in Houston, Texas, and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, where you may call 242-3348 for obituary information at any time.
