Carla R. Hanger, 58, of Mt. Vernon died 7:55 a.m. April 6, 2005, at her home.

She was a school teacher for Mt. Vernon City Schools and retired after 27 years. She taught second, third and fourth grades.

Mrs. Hanger was born Nov. 21, 1946, in Vincennes, Ind., to Walter and Pauline (Newland) Vinsel.

She married Jim Hanger April 5, 1969, in Lawrenceville; he survives.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Second Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon. Jim Duncan will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Second Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon and from 1 p.m. Saturday until the time of service at the church.

Mrs. Hanger is survived by her husband, Jim Hanger of Mt. Vernon; a son, Todd Hanger of Lisle; a daughter, Tiffany Bays and husband Ryan of Mt. Vernon; twin granddaughters, Aislinn and Lauchlinn Bays of Mt. Vernon; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, James and Helen Hanger of Bridgeport; a sister, Linda Grothoff and husband Curt of Mt. Vernon; an aunt, Mary Eisner of Mt. Vernon; a sister-in-law, Jane Paulich and husband Ed of Marion; a brother-in-law, Jerry Hanger and wife Theresa of Johnston City, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Hanger was a member of Second Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon.
