Rev. Louie Barrett Hanna
The Rev. Louie Barrett Hanna, 93, of Scheller died at 5:15 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, in Good Samaritan R.H.C. in Mt. Vernon. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home in Sesser, with the Rev. Kent Dunford officiating. Burial will be in Old Baptist Cemetery in Scheller. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, to the funeral home. He was born Jan. 29, 1911, in Scheller, the son of William Marion and Anna (Barrett) Hanna. He married Gladys Alene (Pitchford) Hanna on Nov. 7, 1931, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 26, 1987. The Rev. Hanna was pastor of many Free Will Baptist churches all over Southern Illinois. Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Wells and husband, Marion, of Sesser; a son, William L. Hanna and wife, Dorris, of Emden; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. His parents, wife, and one brother, Arnold, preceded him in death.
