Fredrick Eugene Harlow Sr.
Fredrick Eugene Harlow Sr., 67, of Mt. Vernon died 1:22 p.m. June 29, 2005, at VA Medical Center in Marion. He was a custodian at General Tire for many years until retirement. Mr. Harlow was born July 5, 1937, in Mt. Vernon to Farris Phy and Celia Mae (Clark) Harlow. He married Shirley (Sullivan) Harlow May 4, 1957, in Holyoke, Mass.; she survives in Mt. Vernon. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Mt. Vernon. The Rev. Daniel Jurek will officiate. Full military honors will be conducted by members of Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Mr. Harlow is survived by his wife, Shirley Harlow of Mt. Vernon; a son, Fredrick Eugene Harlow Jr. and wife Debra of Mt. Vernon; four daughters, Brenda L. Morris and husband Frank M. of Grayling, Mich., Sheery Evilsizer of Centralia, Darline M. Bailey of Mt. Vernon and Corrine M. Ullery and husband Harry of Mt. Vernon; 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, William E. Greer and wife Carol of Florida; two sisters, Eunice Rapp of Mt. Vernon and Fredalie Barnett of Princeton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Harlow served in the U.S. Air Force and loved fishing and gardening. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
