Mary A. Hartman
Mrs. Mary A. Hartman, aged 50 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Orley Pemberton, Sunday and the body was taken to Makanda, Monday for burial. She was born at Jonesboro, Ill., May 19, 1860. February 25, 1879 she became the wife of Jacob Hartman who preceeded her to the Great Beyond, March 7, 1900. Mrs. Hartman came to this city seven years ago. Her death was due to pneumonia and her illness was of less than one week, in duration. She joined the Baptist church when but 16 years old and when she became a resident of this city she moved her membership to the First Baptist church. The loved ones to mourn are two daughters, Mrs. Orley Pemberton, Mrs. Harley Rupard, of this city, a stepdaughter, Mrs. Joseph Creighton, St. Louis, two sisters, Mrs. W. J. Zimmerman, of this city, Mrs. C. C. Bradley, Makanda; two brothers, E. W. Cover, Campbell, Mo. and W. E. Cover, Cairo.
