John W. Harvey, 88, Dix died at 6 pm June 30, 1986 in Crossroads Community Hospital. He was a retired employed of Lear-Zeigler Stove Company in Centralia.

Mr. Harvey was born April 14, 1898 in Jefferson County, a son of Lige and Fanny (Atchison) Harvey.

On Dec.6, 1917, in Jefferson County, he married Ada Ellen Piercy, who survives.

The funeral will be 1 pm Thursday at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix with the Rev. H. David Fleetwood of Mt. Vernon officiating. Burial will follow in Boyd Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 pm Wednesday.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Harvey is survived by two sons, John Henry Harvey and wife Shirley of Dix, Fred Harvey and wife, Kay of Arcola, IL; one foster son, Charley Gaston of Mt. Vernon; four daughters, Cora Phelps and Marge Morgan of Dix; Mrs. Gene (Faye) Johnson of Bluford, and Mrs. Loyd (Joan) Cameron of Blue Springs, Mo; 15 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and 7 great great grandchildren.

Mr. Harvey was a member of Boyd Pentecostal Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Nellie Houghland; two grandsons; Mike Harvey of Arcola and Norman Harvey of Dix; two brothers and six sisters.
