Alec E. Hathaway, 25, of Woodlawn died 4:45 a.m. Oct. 18, 2004, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

He worked along with his father and brothers in the family business of Quality Carpet Care and also worked at Wendy's.

Mr. Hathaway was born Nov. 10, 1978, in Chicago to Burton J. "Burt" and Edna M. (DeMaeyer) Hathaway.

Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. The Rev. Daniel Jurek will officiate. Those attending this service are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Thursday. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Mr. Hathaway is survived by his parents, Burt and Edna Hathaway of Mt. Vernon; his fiancee, Sondra Willmore of Woodlawn; a son, Chad Michael Hathaway of Mt. Vernon; brothers Marc B. Hathaway and wife Jill of Sicily, Italy and Eric J. Hathaway and wife Stephanie of Salem; nieces Jordan Ann Hathaway and Madison Lynn Hathaway; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and a nephew, Hunter Hathaway.

Mr. Hathaway was of the Catholic faith. He loved old cars and Pink Floyd.
