James C. Hayes, a resident of the Hopewell neighborhood, died at two o'clock this morning at the Mt. Vernon Hospital. He had been ill for several weeks. His age was 67 years, five months and 27 days.

Mr. Hayes was born in Indiana, but had lived here for many years.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Hannah Hayes, and the following children: Steve, James, Mrs. Tina McGee, and Mrs. Stella Jolly, all of Mt. Vernon. Mrs. Clara Ponder of Candediea, Texas and Sam and Cliff of Detroit. Mrs. Lydia Baker of Mt. Vernon is a sister and Tom and Richard Hayes of this city are brothers.

Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Hopewell Church. The body was removed from the Osborn Funeral Home at Dix this afternoon and my be viewed at the home until the funeral morn.
