Alma Lorene Hayes, 76, 1140 Welkin St., died 7:35 a.m. Aug. 4, 1989, at her home.

Mrs. HAYES was born Sept. 22, 1912, in Jefferson County, a daughter of William G. and Ella (KLUCK) PHELPS.

Dec. 14, 1929, in Mt. Vernon, she married Claud C. HAYES, who died March 1, 1983.

Services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Buss HART officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. HAYES is survived by one daughter, Mr. Pete (Wanda) CRIDER of Mt. Vernon; two sons, Wendell C. HAYES and wife, Priscilla, of Indianapolis, and Michael HAYES and wife, Tammy, of Mt. Vernon; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Elmer PHELPS and wife, Dorothy, of Indianapolis; one sister, Mrs. Mayola OLSON of Mt. Vernon; two stepbrothers, Harold ALBRIGHT and wife Betty, and Harley ALBRIGHT, all of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. HAYES was a Pentecost.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and one brother.
