Barbara Ellen Hayes, 63, of Newburgh, Ind., daughter of Cecile Pasley and the late Paul Pasley of Mt. Vernon, died of cancer at her home in Newburgh at 7:15 p.m. Saturday.

She had been a Realtor the past 11 years, most recently as an agent for Prudential Prime Locations in Evansville, Ind. In her first year as a Realtor, she achieved membership in the Million Dollar Club ($1 million in sales and listings) and maintained this status annually throughout her career, often moving to the million plus rank.

She was the first female member of Rolling Hills Country Club and the first woman to serve on its board of directors. In this role, she served as membership head and spearheaded the project of Rolling Hills' first picture directory and membership roster.

She was past president of Newburg Welcome Wagon Club, a member of Rollings Hills Country Club, Indiana Association of Realtors, Evansville Board of Realtors, and Historic Newburgh Preservation Society.

A graduate of Opdyke Grade School, she moved to Evansville in 1951 and continued her education at Lockyear Business college and with night classes at University of Evansville. Always one to enjoy the fellowship of friends and family, she eagerly anticipated the yearly reunions of Opdyke graduates and those of her family.

She attended Aldersgate Methodist Church in Evansville.

She is survived by her mother, Cecile Pasley of Mt. Vernon; one sister, Mrs. Charles (Frances) Leggett of Evansville; four nieces, Paula Leggett of New York, N.Y., Maria Leggett, Cheryl Leggett and Jann Hickey of Evansville; one nephew, Charles A. Leggett of Tucson, Ariz.; also several aunts, uncles and cousins survive.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home with burial in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice, Deaconess Hospital, Evansville, Ind., and will be accepted at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon at any time.

**Note from Sandy: Barbara was born 18 Feb 1929 and died 21 Mar 1992. She married Dale Hayes February 8, 1964 in Evansville, IN.
