Freida A. Hayes, 83, of Mt. Vernon died at 6:12 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2003 at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

Hayes was retired from Shoe Factory in Mt. Vernon and had never married.

Ms. Hayes was born in Mt. Vernon on April 29, 1920 to Green and Hattie (Wilson) Hayes.

Grave side services will be4 held on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, at Hopewell Cemetery northeast of Mt. Vernon. Friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Sunday.

Ms. Hayes is survived by three brothers, Otis Hayes of Carmi, John Hayes and wife, Sibyl of Abilene, Tx., James Hayes and wife, Bobbi of Belleville and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Florence Johnson and one sister-in-law, Halene Hayes.

Osborn Funeral Home of Dix is in charge of arrangements.
