Mrs. Hattie Josephine Hayes, 89, of 831 S. 19th St., died at 6:35 pm Sunday at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 pm at Hopewell United Methodist Church, where Mrs. Hayes was a member. The Rev. Bee Hale of Bonnie will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix after 6 pm today.

Mrs. Hayes was born June 18, 1887, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of John and Mattie (Tyler) Wilson.

In St. Louis, Mo., on Dec. 21, 1910, she married Greenberry Hayes, who preceded her in death in 1959.

Survivors include three sons, Otis of Mt. Vernon, John of Abilene, Texas, and James of Belleville; one daughter, Freida Hayes of Mt. Vernon; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Florence Johnson; one infant son; one infant daughter; one sister; and two brothers.
