Greenbury Hayes, born Park County, Indiana, 1840, married Nancy Lavina Puckett on July 9, 1857.

He was a Civil War lieutenant and discharged July 10, 1865.

Lavina, born 1841, bore six children: Lydia, Hiram, Joshua, James, Thomas and Richard.

A second wife bore Sam, Dave and “Sis”.

A third wife was childless.

The first family was born in Indiana.

After considerable moving to Missouri and Illinois, Greenberry died at the home of his son Hiram near Hopewell Church north of Mt. Vernon.
