Marion W. Hayes - Funeral Friday Funeral services for Marion William Hayes will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Myers Chapel, where friends my call at any time after 11 a.m. Thursday. Mr. Hayes, a machinist foreman at Pressed Steel Car Co. here, resided at RFD 1, Bonnie He was stricken while working at the car company yesterday morning and died later at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. Marion W. Hayes Marion William Hayes, son of Mr. And Mrs. Hiram Hayes was born Aug. 9,1901 and departed this life June 16, 1953, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital at the age of 51 years, 10 Months and 7 days. On the 16th day of June while at his post of duty, he suffered a severe heart attack from which he never did recover. He was a very devoted employee of the Press Steel Car Company of Mt. Vernon, IL and for the last 31 years of his life he had worked for the different companies in charge of this plant. For the last 22 years when the plant worked, he never missed a day. In the year of 1932 he was united in marriage to Nettie Ethel Friend of Wayne City, Ill. To this union nine children were born, namely Mrs. Lois Firebaugh, Loree Hutchison, Eyvone Meyer, Imogene Kays, Donald Eugene, William LeRoy, Melvin Ray, and Shirley Jeane at home. One daughter, Linda Kay, father, mother, and one sister preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, 8 children, nine grandchildren; two brothers, Green Hayes of Mt. Vernon, Ira Hayes of Arizona; four sisters, namely Mrs. Belle Phelps of Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Clora Alexandra of Belleville, Ill., Mrs. Nell Wilson of Jacksonville, Ill., Mrs. Bessie Coriel of Mt. Vernon, Ill., besides a host of friends and buddies of Press Steel Car Company. He was a most devoted companion and father, a friend to one and all who knew him, and will be greatly missed.
