Sharon Hayes, 57, of Mt. Vernon died 3:55pm Nov., 15, 2000 at her home.

Mrs. Hayes was a homemaker.

She was born Oct. 5, 1943, in Mt. Vernon to Lloyd and Gearlene (Kissner) Matthews.

She married Robbie E. Hayes Oct. 12, 1962; he survives.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Saturday at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix with the Revs. Don Rector and Alan Rhein officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her mother, Gearlene Nance and husband Bill of Mt. Vernon; Two sons, Charles Smith and wife Debra of Steelville, Missouri and Robbie Hayes Jr. of Mt. Vernon. Three daughters; Robin Thomas and husband Jeff of Mt. Vernon, Lisa McKinney and husband Rick of Bluford and Renae Simmons and husband Monty of Mt. Vernon. Five grandchildren, her twin brother, Donald Matthews and wife, Forestine of Bluford; a half brother, Gary Matthews and wife Tina of Mt. Vernon; and one sister, Wilma Anderson and husband Jim of Mt. Vernon.

Mrs Hayes was a member of American Legion Auxiliary 1193 in Bluford, and attended Mt. Vernon Township High School. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, and will be received ar the funeral home at any time.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her father.
