Linda Diane Hays, 57, Mt. Vernon, passed away at 3:35 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2008, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.

She was born in Granite City on Sept. 10, 1950, a daughter of Thomas Jr. and Norma Marie (Odell) Williams Cobb.

She married Virgle "Nokey" Hays on April 26, 1969, in Granite City, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 2006.

She was a homemaker.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Johnston Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Jerry Schell officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Linda is survived by two sons, Dennis Hays and wife Debbie of Bluford and Jerry Hays and wife Kristy of Marion; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers, David Cobb and wife Cherry of Mt. Vernon and Clint Wade and wife Joyce of Mt. Vernon; and three sisters, Barbara Messmore of Mt. Vernon, Robin James and husband Ronald of Opdyke and Holly King of Mt. Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, husband, two brothers and one great-granddaughter.
