Howard K. Heaney
Howard K. Heaney, 59, of 1015 S. 24th St., died at 10 p.m. Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospital. Mr. Heaney worked 33 years at the Mt. Vernon Water Treatment Plant before retiring in 1974 due to ill health. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Wesley United Methodist church, with the Rev. Jesse Seiber and the Rev. A. B. Clodfelder officiating. Burial will be in Old Shiloh cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Hughey-Pulley Funeral Home. The body will lie in state until 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and at the church from 12 noon until the funeral hour. Mr. Heaney was born Dec. 20, 1916, at Mt. Vernon, the son of Walter and Gertrude (Woods) Heaney. He was married Dec. 8, 1936, at Benton, to Louise Chapman. She survives. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He is survived by his widow, Louise Heaney; two sons, the Rev. James R. Heaney of Brookport and Rick H. Heaney of Mt. Vernon; and a niece, Glenna Kay Patterson of Aurora. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
