Cora Maxine (Chambliss) Henry
BLUFORD-Cora Maxine Henry, 94, of Bluford died at 7:24 pm Sunday, Aug 31, 2014. She was born July 27, 1920, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Charles Samuel Chambliss and Bertha Florence (King) Chambliss. She married Ross Earl Henry and he preceded her in death. Mrs. Henry is survived by her three daughters, Dorris Bass and Sharon Shaw and husband Larry of Wayne City and Alice Brookman and husband Dean of Bluford; three sons, Gary Henry and wife Phyllis of Mt. Vernon, Larry Henry or Dix and Dannie Henry and wife Tammie of Bluford; a daughter-in-law, Linda Henry of Salem; 24 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leuty Chambliss of Bluford and Charles “Junior” Chambliss and wife Mary of Wayne City; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Henry was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Earl Henry and Sam Henry; one daughter, Iris Shell; four grandchildren, Junior Phelps, Mary Bass, Curtis Henry and Trevas Henry; two sons-in-law, Fletcher Bass and Jackie Shell; a daughter-in-law, Judy Henry; four sisters, Grace Martin, Reva Howard, Pet Fletcher and Geraldine Maxey; three brothers, Willis Chambliss, Calvin Chambliss and Estel Chambliss; and two infant brothers. Mrs. Henry was a member of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church in Harmony. In addition to her love of God, she loved to quilt which was always a work of perfection. Memorial services will be held at 1 pm Thursday at Harmony Baptist Church in Harmony. Burial will follow at Harmony Cemetery in Harmony.
