Vivian Herrmann

Vivian Herrmann passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri.

She was an avid bowler, and loved playing golf. She was secretary of a number of ladies bowling leagues and President, 2nd Vice President and treasurer of the Mt. Vernon Women's Bowling Association. She was inducted into the Mt. Vernon Women's Bowling Hall of Fame. She served as President of the Homestead and Seven Oaks Ladies Golf Assn. She was a member of the American Legion Unit 141 Auxiliary, AMVETS Post #4 Auxiliary and Ladies of the Elks. She avidly followed the Woodlawn Warriors and Cardinals, was a huge Saint Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bulls fan, and she lovingly followed her grandchildren's sports activities.

Mrs. Herrmann was a member of the West Salem Trinity United Methodist of Mt. Vernon where she had served as President of the United Methodist Women, Church Secretary, Church treasurer (an office she currently held), chairperson of the finance committee, secretary of the Memorial Committee and taught the Ambassador Sunday School class for a number of years.

She was employed at Montgomery Ward & Co. for 38 years. After the closing of the Montgomery Ward store, she worked as secretary for Feme Bee of Century 21 Bee Inc., Realtors and Egyptian Board of Realtors until her retirement.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until Service Time 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at West Salem Trinity United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois. The funeral will follow at West Salem Trinity United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Noon with Rev. Brad Henson officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois.

Vivian Herrmann is survived by one daughter, Wendy Petersen and husband Mike of Woodlawn; one step son Gene Herrmann, three step daughters, Joe Ann Wininger Chambliss and husband Kenneth, Diane Porter and husband Steve. Of Mt. Vernon, Nancy Winkler and husband Steve of Ballwin, MO, one grandson Brendan Petersen of Woodlawn, one granddaughter Morgahn Petersen of Woodlawn, four step grandsons, David Wininger and wife Sarah of Mt. Vernon, IL, Adam Porter and Wife Rachel of Olney, IL, Jared Herrmann of Saint Louis, MO, and Tyler Winkler of Ballwin, MO, two step granddaughters, Carol Lynn Chambliss Hart and husband Rod of Colorado Springs, CO and Emilie Porter Huck and husband Bayard of Boston, MA, four step great granddaughters and one great grandson.

She was born on October 20, 1925 in Wayne County.

She married Lee Wininger on June 12, 1948 in Mt. Vernon, IL. He died on June 23, 1985.

She married Arthur E. Herrmann on August 5, 2000 in Mt. Vernon, IL. He died on November 29, 2009.

In addition to both husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, one stepdaughter, one stepson and one step grandson.
