Beulah Ellen (Beckham) Hicks
SCHELLER -- Beulah Ellen Hicks, a wonderful mother and grandmother, 90, died at 1:50 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. She was born Sept. 30, 1911, in Waltonville the daughter of Samuel Fred and Lou Etta Beckham. She married Archie Hicks. She was a homemaker and a member of the Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church. She is survived by her children Delmar and Marilyn Hicks of Tamaroa, Jesse Franklin and Betty Hicks of Steeleville, Wiliam Hicks and Ronnie Hicks of Scheller, Norma Gilbert of Christopher, Janet and Bill Kesler, also of Christopher and Karen Winget of Scheller; 21 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Lois Fred of Sesser; and a cousin Mary Fred; and a dear friend, Leida Downen. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one grandson; one granddaughter; four brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home in Sesser, with Rev. Bud Porter officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Sesser. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27 at the funeral home.
