David E. Hicks Of Waltonville Dies At Age 88

David Edward Hicks, of Waltonville, died at 9:45 last night at Good Samaritan Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past three days.

Mr. Hicks, one of Waltonville's best known citizens, was formerly postmaster there. Over the years her also was a school teacher, a funeral director and a furniture store operator.

He was 88 years, 11 months and 27 days of age.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Methodist church in Waltonville. The Rev. E.W. Gulley will officiate and burial will be in Knob Prairie cemetery. The body will remain at Myers Chapel, where friends may call after 4:00 p.m. today.

Mr. Hicks was born August 13, 1864 in Jefferson county, the son of David and Elizabeth (Finch) Hicks.

He was first married to Hattie Harris, who preceded him in death 30 years ago.

He was later married to Cora B. Reed, who died September 12, 1949.

He was a member of the Waltonville Methodist church and the I.O.O.F. of Waltonville.

He was the last member of his immediate family and is survived by several nieces and nephews.
