Mrs. Sadie Hicks Of Waltonville Dies At Age 58 Mrs. Sadie Fay Hicks, 58, of Waltonville, died at 12:45 a.m. today while en route to Marshall-Browning Hospital in Du Quoin. Death was due to a heart attack. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Free Will Baptist church in Waltonville, of which she was a member, with the Rev. Carl Williams officiating. Burial will be in South Hickory Hill cemetery near Waltonville. The body will lie in state at the Fry Funeral Home in Waltonville where friends may call after 10 a.m. tomorrow. At noon Sunday the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until the funeral hour. Mrs. Hicks was born Jan. 18, 1901 in Jefferson county, the daughter of Robert Lee and Sarah (Bean) Dees. On Nov. 15, 1919, at West Frankfort, she was married to Travis Hicks, who died June 23, 1938. Survivors include four sons, Robert, Samuel, Clifford, and James Hicks, all of Waltonville; one daughter, Mrs. Bob Nadolski, of Waltonville; three brothers, Baron, Tracy, and Hollie Dees, all of Waltonville; two sisters, Mrs. Vesta Wilson of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Vetra Wells of Bonnie; and seven grandchildren. Besides her husband, Mrs. Hicks was preceded in death by her parents, one son, and two brothers. Submitted by: Cindy Ford |
