Shirley Ann (Coberly) Higginson
Shirley Ann Higginson, 70, of Mt. Vernon died 11:47 p.m. Feb. 13, 2005, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Higginson was born April 21, 1934, in Mt. Vernon to Harry and Anna Belle (Uselton) Coberly. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at West Salem Cemetery. The Rev. Merle Fullerton will officiate. Those attending this service are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Wednesday. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Mrs. Higginson is survived by sons David Higginson and wife Letta of Ashley, Virgil Higginson Jr. of Mt. Vernon, Jeff Moore and wife Bonnie of Mt. Vernon, John Moore of Mt. Vernon and Allen Moore of California; daughters Patricia Ann Kirkland of Mt. Vernon, Terry McMahon and husband David of Sesser, Barbara Hemingway and husband Josiah of Mt. Vernon, Tracie Moore of Mt. Vernon and Rebecca McCune and husband Donald of Waltonville; 28 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Harry Coberly Jr. and wife Megan of Farina; sisters Betty Burwell of Mt. Vernon and Mary Coberly of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Beverly Higginson; six brothers, Harold, Herold, Herman, Frank, Floyd and Charles Coberly; and a sister, Dorothy Calvert. Mrs. Higginson was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the VFW Auxiliary and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
