Laura J. Highsmith, 94, of 608 Main St., died at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Good Samaritan Hospital.

She was born May 10, 1882, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Lewis and Julia Ann (Williams) Highsmith.

She was first married on June 5, 1898, to William B. Reece, who preceded her in death in 1952.

On April 21, 1960, she married Samuel S. Highsmith, who survives.

She was a member of camp Ground Baptist Church, and of the Royal Neighbors.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Lloyd V. Reece of Winter Haven, Fla.; a daughter, Edith M. West of Foorissant, Mo.; a sister, Julia Pettit of Mt. Vernon; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren; five step-children, Gale Highsmtih of Milwaukee, Wisc., Coral Highsmith of Salida, Colo., Dale Highsmith of Denver, Colo., Helen Turgeon of Vacaville, Calif., and Dorothea Littrell of Evanston; and nine step-grandchildren and 11 step-great-grandchildren.

Funerl arrangements will be announced later from Myers-Baril Funeral Service.
