Lester C. "Pappy" Hodge

L.C. "Pappy" Hodge Dies At Age 69 Years

Lester C. "Pappy" Hodge, 69, of 301 Harrison street, died at 11:10 last night at Good Samaritan Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past three weeks.

Mr. Hodge was a retired section foreman for the Missouri Pacific Railroad.

For years he was a member of the board of directors of the Mt. Vernon Gun and Sportsman's Club.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Myers Chapel. The Rev. Everett Lemay will officiate and burial will be in the Woodlawn cemetery. The body will lie in state at Myers Chapel, where friends may call after 4:00 p.m. today.

Mr. Hodge was born October 17, 1893 at Waltonville the son of Alexander and Cora (Mannen) Hodge.

He was married, in 1910, to Grace Shurtz, who survives.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Ralph C. Hodge of Mt. Vernon; a brother, Guy Hodge of Mt. Vernon; a sister, Mrs. Opal Newell of Waltonville; and one granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
