Claude D. "Daddy" HOOTS of RFD #1, Mt. Vernon, died at 10:40p.m. Monday at Good Samaritan Hospital where he had been a patient for the past five days. He was 85y5m4d old.

Mr. HOOTS was a former diesel locomotive operator for the Mt. Vernon Car Company.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00p.m. Thursday at Myers Chapel with the Rev. Carl Whittington officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. HOOTS was born June 7, 1898 (sic), in Scott County, Illinois, the son of Alex and Eva (HENRY) HOOTS.

On November 26, 1898 (sic), he was married to Victoria ALLEN, who preceded him in death on November 16, 1958.

He is survived by two sons, Lowell HOOTS of Decatur, Ill; and Lynus HOOTS of Beech Grove, Ind.; three daughters, Mrs. Eva DOBBIN of Warren, Mich.; Mrs. Stell JOHNSON of Port Huron, Mich.; and Mrs. Beulah BOLERJACK of Mt. Vernon; 10 grandchildren; 20 g-grandchildren and 5 g-g-grandchildren.
