Pauline Hopper, 80, of Mt. Vernon died 6:30 a.m. May 23, 1998 at the Mt. Vernon Care Center.

She was a homemaker.

On July 4, 1917, she was born in Poseyville, Ind., to Eldon Bryan and Lena (Howell) Phillips, both now deceased.

She married Elmer F. Hopper on May 8, 1941, in Mt. Vernon. He died on July 29, 1982.

Services are set for 1 p.m. Monday at Hughey Funeral Home. The Rev. Neil Davis will officiate. Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery near Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be at Hughey Funeral Home after 11 a.m. Monday.

She is survived by a sister, Ruth Hale and husband Rev. Bertram Hale of Bonnie, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister, Claudia Wayman.

She was a member of the Church of God.
