William Clarence Hopper
Clarence Hopper, of 305 South First Street, died at 12:35 p.m. Sunday at the age of 62 years ten months and 15 days. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Pulley Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Clarence Coats officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Pulley Funeral Home, where friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday. Mr. Hopper was born November 21, 1905 in Mt. Vernon, the son of John and Minnie (Pigg) Hopper. On October 21, 1933, in Kankakee, he married Blanche Cremer, who survives. Other survivors include two sons, Jerry Hopper and Richard E. Hopper, both of Mt. Vernon; one daughter, Mrs. Pauline Ricchetti of LaFayette, Ind.; one brother, Elmer Hopper of Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Mrs. Wilma Sursa of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Alma Ruth Wyatt of Whittington; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother. Mr. Hopper was a member of East Side Baptist Church. He was a riveter at the old Mt. Vernon Car Shops.
