Charles Woodrow Horton Jr.

Horton Funeral At 3:30 Friday At Dahlgren

Funeral service for Charles Woodrow Horton, 50, who was killed in an automobile accident near Belle Rive Tuesday night, will be held Friday at 3:30 p.m. at the Belle Rive Missioanry Baptist church, of which he was a member.

The Rev. Ray Wilkey and the Rev. John Lee, Jr., will officiate and burial will be in Flint cemetery, north of Belle Rive.

Masonic rites will be conducted at 8:00 o'clock this evening at the Gholson Funeral Home at Dahlgren. The body will lie in state at the funeral home, where friends may call at any time.

Mr. Horton, a native of Belle Rive, resided at 100 E. Jeffrey in Kankakee, Ill., and was employed at the Kankakee State Hospital.

He was born July 1, 1915 in Jefferson county, the son fo C. W. and Emily Pearl (Wright) Horton.

He was mararied to Louise Johnson, who survives.

Mr. Hortoln was a member of Eastern Star and Masonic Lodge at Alton, Ill., the Amvets and Moose Lodge of Mt. Vernon, and the American Legion at Dahlgren and Kankakee.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Emily Pearl Horton of Belle Rive; three sons, Charles D. Horton of East Gary, Ind., Woodrow R. Horton of Joliet and Bill M. Horton of Hobart, Ind.; two brothers, William P. Horton of Mt. Vernon and Ross Horton of Belle Rive; a sister, Mrs. Carmel Crawford of Filer, Idaho; and give grandchildren.
