Louise Pearl (Johnson) Horton Jacob
Louise Pearl Horton-Jacob, 88, of Mt. Vernon died 10:04 p.m. Sept. 25, 2004, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon. She was a retired nurse from the state mental hospital in Kankakee. Mrs. Horton-Jacob was born June 25, 1916, in Ina to Charles N. and Minnie (Hanson) Johnson. She first married Charles Woodrow Horton June 16, 1936, in Mt. Vernon; he died July 20, 1965. She then married George Jacob Feb. 6, 1971, in Kankakee; he died Aug. 9, 1977. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. The Rev. Roger Ellsworth, Elder Bill Rocket and the Rev. Everett Lemay will officiate. Burial will follow at Belle Rive Flint Cemetery in Belle Rive. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Mrs. Horton-Jacob is survived by three sons, Ross Horton and wife Sharon of Belle Rive, Charles Horton and wife Bernice of Benton and Bill Horton and wife Karen of Belle Rive; nine grandchildren, Terry Lockheart and husband Billy of Indianapolis, Ind., Cheryl Ridinger and husband Roy of Worthington, Mo., Debra Shaffer and husband Chet of Thompsonville, Julie Cochrane and husband Don of Belle Rive, Joel Horton and wife Cindi of Wayne City, Steve Horton of Belle Rive, Barry Horton and wife Gwen of Dix, Melissa Ramos and husband Orlando of Salem and Randy Horton and wife Stephanie of Memphis, Tenn.; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Laur and husband Leck of Waltonville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; a son, Donald Ray; and four brothers, Lester, Dale, Wesley and her twin brother, Louis. Mrs. Horton-Jacob was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Bourbonnais and Eastern Star. For those who wish, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
