Freda M. Houtz, 64, of Mt. Vernon and formerly of Belvidere, died 6:30 p.m. April 20, 1994, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center's emergency room.

Mrs. Houtz was born Feb 7, 1930, in Dodds Township, Jefferson. A daughter of Dave and Fleeta (Holloway) Tracey.

In 1954, she married Elmer Houtz, who died Nov 20, 1955.

Graveside services will be 1 PM April 30 at Genoa Cemetery in Genoa. There will be no visitation. Johnston Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Houtz is survived by a daughter, Gloria Totz and husband Craig of Belvidere; two grandchildren, Mark and Michelle Totz; two brothers, Bill Tracey, and wife Mary of Mt. Vernon and Dwight McConnaughhay and wife Ruthie of Colorado Springs, Colo; and four sisters, Mary Josephine Moss of Belvidere, Betty Woodworth and husband Charlie and Mary Louise Thomas and husband Perry, all of Bluford, and Marie Ashley of Chicago.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; special friend Sherman Laing; and two brothers, George Tracey and an infant brother.
