Virgil Huffstutler
Virgil Huffstutler, 82, of Route 4, formerly of Bonnie and late of Astor, Fla., died 11:20 a.m. July 1, 1994, at Florida Hospital-Waterman in Eustis, Fla. He was born June 8, 1912, in Hamilton County, a son of Clarence William and Effie (Kelley) Huffstutler. On April 2, 1933, in West Frankfort, he married Vera Violet Ferguson, who died March 25, 1984. July 13, 1985, he then married Thelma E. Wilson, who survives. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Hughey Funeral home with the Rev. David Mays officiating. Burial will be Black Oak Ridge Cemetery near Bluford. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In addition to his wife, Mr. Huffstutler is survived by a daughter, Linda Newell and husband Albert of Mt. Vernon; a son, Loren Dean Huffstutler and wife Joann of Astor, Fla.; five grandchildren, Sonja Mellott of Mt. Vernon, Carol Ann Barngrover and husband Rod of Astor, Fla., Mike Huffstutler and wife Kandice of Seville, Fla., Pam Curry and husband Terry of Newsmyra, Fla., and April Huffstutler, of Astor, Fla.; five great-grandchildren; five stepsons, Larry Lyday and wife Toni of Chicago, Richard Wayne Hefner and Kathy of Mt. Vernon, Garry L. Hefner and wife Glenda, Leonard G. Hefner and wife Jane, and Gale E. Hefner and wife Kathy, all of Opdyke; a stepdaughter, Norma Trout of Mt. Vernon; 19 step grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; a sister Juanita Hunter of Danville; two sisters-in-law, Neva Huffstutler of Alton and Winnie Reese of Oakhurst, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Huffstutler was a deacon and member of the Pleasant Grove Church of God for more than 50 years and was also a Sunday school teacher for many years. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, and infant daughter and two brothers.
