Edna Ruth Hughey, 104, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 12:45 P.M. on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

Edna was born on Monday, September 5, 1910 in Spring Garden Township, Bonnie, Illinois the daughter of the late Orval T. and Ethel (Smith) Wallace.

She married William Omer Hughey on August 25, 1928 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and he preceded her in death on December 29, 1980.

Surviving family members include her daughter-in-law: Susan R. Hughey of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 6 grandchildren: Ruth Ann Short and husband David of Broughton, Illinois, Mary Ann George and friend Gene Walker of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Laurie Ann Miljan and husband Brad of Benton, Illinois; Carmen Rae Deichman and husband Chris of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Monica Rae Akes and husband Rick of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Marsha Rae Locke and husband John of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 10 great grandchildren: Nathan Kyle Mays and wife Erica of Bonnie, Illinois, Shane Michael Williams and wife Ashley of Waltonville, Illinois, Cameron William George of Charlotte, North Carolina, Kalyn Marie George of Centerville, Ohio, Gracie Nicole Tate of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Reid Tyler Deichman of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Lane Tyler Deichman of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Hayden Jonathon Locke of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Krystal Michelle Akes of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Kylie Raye Akes of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; Cameron and Kalyn's father: Bob George of Wichita, Kansas; 4 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Her parents, husband: William Omer Hughey, two sons: William "Bill" Hughey and Charles Edward Hughey and one daughter-in-law: Yvonne K. Hughey preceded her in death.

Edna was a homemaker who loved antiquing, sewing and reading. She was known by all her grandchildren and great grandchildren as "MiMi".

Funeral services will be held at Hughey Funeral Home 1314 Main Street, P.O. Box 721, Mount Vernon, IL 62864, Reverend Merle Fullerton will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Burial will be in Bethel Memorial Cemetery Mt. Vernon, Illinois 62864.
