Mae P. Hurt, 86, of Mt. Vernon died 5:15 a.m. Feb. 16, 1999, at Casey Care Center.

Mrs. Hurt was born Dec. 14, 1912, in East St. Louis, a daughter of William and Sarah (Martin) Crabtree.

Aug. 23, 1929, in Petersburg, Ind., she married the Rev. John Henry Hurt, who preceded her in death Jan. 30, 1980.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Breeze officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Hughey Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hurt is survived by one son, the Rev. Allen R. Hurt and wife Nancy of Park Hills, Mo.; five grandchildren, Sue Ayers and husband Paul, Jeff Skidmore and wife Shelby, Greg Skidmore and wife Cindy and Daniel Hurt and wife Paula; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hurt was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Ronald Hurt; and one daughter, Roberta Mae Fisher.

She was a longtime member of Second Baptist Church.
