Ronald H. "Ron" Hustedde, 59, of Opdyke died 10:38 a.m. Sept. 14, 2005, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. He was a driver and coal mining equipment sales representative for Joy Manufacturing in Mt. Vernon. Mr. Hustedde was born Oct. 27, 1945, in Mt. Vernon to Robert H. and Mary (Valdez) Hustedde. He married Catherine Sue (Brannon) Hustedde March 17, 1990, in Franklin, Pa.; she survives. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. The Rev. Jack Lucas will officiate. Burial will follow at Wolfe Prairie Cemetery in Jefferson County. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, with a Shriner walk through 7 p.m. today at the funeral home, followed by a Sons of the American Legion walk through. Mr. Hustedde is survived by his mother, Mary Hustedde of Mt. Vernon; his wife, Catherine Hustedde of Opdyke; twin sons, Curt Hustedde and wife Melanie of Carrier Mills and Carl Hustedde of Harrisburg; a stepdaughter, Angie Craig and husband David of Harrisburg; five grandchildren, Whitney, Caitlyn and Tyler Hustedde of Harrisburg and Jordan and Josh Craig of Harrisburg; three brothers, Gary Hustedde of Dix, Raymond Hustedde and wife Tracy of Mt. Vernon and Paul Branch and wife Kathy of Virginia; three sisters, Roberta Davidson and husband Melvin of Texico, Linda Helbling and husband Jerry of Hawaii and Phyllis Halfacre and husband Jerry of Texico; 16 nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Joanne Brannon of Franklin, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Barbara Oakes and Gary of Franklin, Pa.; and brothers-in-law J. Ed. Brannon and wife Lisa of Franklin, Pa., and Ken Brannon and wife Erin of Oil City, Pa. He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Larry Hustedde; a niece, Shelly Davidson; and his father-in-law, James Brannon. Mr. Hustedde was a member of Jefferson County Masonic Lodge 368 of Opdyke; the Salem Council 97; Andrew D. Webb Chapter 160; Patton Commandery 69 Knights Templar; Ainad Shrine Temple of East St. Louis; and the Jefferson County Shrine Club, where he started and organized the Shriners' Golf Scramble to raise funds for Shriners Children's Hospital. He was also a songwriter and an avid Cardinals fan.
