Russell Huston
Russell Huston, 89, of Mt. Vernon died 5:20 a.m. Jan. 18, 2005, at Mt. Vernon Care Center in Mt. Vernon. He was owner/operator of Russell Huston Plumbing Co. Mr. Huston was born May 17, 1915, in Mt. Vernon to Schuyler C. and Effie Alice (Owens) Huston. He married Hilda M. (Bayne) Huston May 1, 1937, in Mt. Vernon; she survives. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. The Rev. Gene Auxier will officiate. Burial will follow at East Salem Cemetery in rural Jefferson County. Military flag presentation will be conducted by the chaplain of American Legion Post 141 in Mt. Vernon.Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Mr. Huston is survived by his wife, Hilda M. Huston of Mt. Vernon; a daughter, B.J. Snyder and husband Richard of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren Staci Snyder of Mt. Vernon and Scott Snyder and wife Rachel of Mt. Vernon; great-grandchildren Haley Snyder of Mt. Vernon, Amber Nelson of Mt. Vernon, Connor Snyder of Mt. Vernon and Emma Snyder of Mt. Vernon; a sister, Gwen McKenzie of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters. Mr. Huston served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of East Salem Missionary Baptist Church and the Mt. Vernon Kiwanis Club and was a past member of the Jefferson County Board.
