Geraldine I. Hutchcraft, 81, of Belle Rive died 10:40 a.m. Feb. 10, 2005, at Jeffersonian Care Center in Mt. Vernon. Prior to her retirement, she had worked as a nurse's aide in several area nursing homes.

Mrs. Hutchcraft was born Nov. 8, 1923, in Mt. Vernon to John William and Philomena (Miller) Ewald.

She married Vern L. Hutchcraft June 6, 1945, in Mt. Vernon; he died April 20, 1995.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. The Rev. Merle Fullerton will officiate. Burial will follow at Farnsworth Cemetery in Wayne County. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Mrs. Hutchcraft is survived by a son, David R. Hutchcraft and wife Lois of Wayne City; daughters Fern Thierry and husband Charles P. of Dahlgren, Rose Frashier and husband Glenn of Maunie, Doris Schlag and husband the Rev. David Schlag of Belle Rive and Donna C. Barttlett of Belle Rive; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters Apalonia Rawls and husband Frank of Dahlgren and Erma Estella Ewald of Dahlgren; sisters-in-law Stella Ewald of Dahlgren and Shirley Ewald of Dahlgren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Carol Ann Fletcher; a grandson, Kenneth Hutchcraft; a granddaughter, Rachel VanHorn; nine sisters; and four brothers.

Mrs. Hutchcraft was a member of Long Prairie Missionary Baptist Church.
