Louise (Coats) Hutchison

Louise Coats was born October 19, 1878 in the Liberty neighborhood in Dodds township.

Her father and mother, John W. Coats and Catherine Waite were married October 24, 1867 and settled in Dodds township. To them were born five children, four sons and one daughter; Louise. In her girlhood home this daughter was greatly beloved by all the members of the family. She was always willing and anxious to share every joy with the four brothers and to be a comfort and help to the father and mother.

She received her education in the Liberty and Franklin schools.

July 4, 1897 Louise Coats and Claude Hutchison were united in marriage at the family home in Dodds township, and took up their residence in Mt. Vernon. In this way a new home was established, which had for its motto 'Love and Service,' and for twenty-four happy years, Mrs. Hutchison's life was devoted to her home and family. One daughter, Aline, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Hutchison and a niece, Miss Cora Edwards had been a member of this home for over twenty years.

Mrs. Hutchison was a member of the M. E. church, having united with the Liberty church in early life. When she married she transferred her membership to the First M. E. church in this city.

Mrs. Hutchison's health had been poor for more than a year and she had been confined to her bed for the last few months. During this time everything that loving hearts, willing hands and medical science could do, was done in order to restore her to health and enable her to be more comfortable.

On July 30, 1921 at 6:45 p.m. the final summons came and with her loved ones around her, the earthly life of a devoted wife and mother, a loving daughter and sister was ended.

She is survived by her husband, Claude Hutchison, one daughter, Aline Hutchison, her niece, Miss Cora Edwards, and by her father John W. Coats, one brother Earl Coats and other relatives.

Funeral services were held at the First M. E. church, Monday afternoon Aug. 1, at 2 o'clock conducted by the pastor, the Rev. M. C. Foltz assisted by the Rev. W. E. Lamp of the Epworth M. E. church and the Rev. Walter Harriss of Los Angeles, Calif. Burial followed at Oakwood cemetery.
