Carl D. Jackson
Carl D. Jackson age 65 of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away Monday, July 23, 2001 at St. Marys/Good Samaritan Hospital, Mt. Vernon. He was born June 29, 1936 in Jefferson Co. IL to Edward and Mildred (Jackson) Jackson. He was married to Shirley L. Minor on December 24, 1958 in Sheridan, IL. Carl was employed at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Montgomery, IL for 30 years as a welder and in the tool distribution dept. He was a member of the Raven Masonic Lodge #303 AF & AM Oswego, IL, Past Master of the lodge, Scottish Rite Bodies of Chicago, IL, Medinah Shrine Temple, Chicago, IL. He was a member and past Commander of the Webber Township American Legion at Bluford, IL Post 1193, Northern Lights Motorcycle Club, Aurora, IL, Lorraine Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Oswego, IL and served in the U.S. Air Force 1954 to 1958. Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife, Shirley of Mt. Vernon, his daughters, Carla (Jerry) Burton of Montgomery, IL, and Kathy McCleary of Oswego, IL; his son, Jerry D. (Edith) Jackson of Sedalia, MO; eleven grandchildren, five great-grand daughters, a brother, Oliver Jackson of Mt. Vernon; a brother-in-law, Clyde (Dolores) Ellis of Bluford, IL and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 25, 2001, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Hughey Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon, IL and a prayer service and Military Flag presentation will be held following the visitation at 8:00 PM by the Chaplain of the American Legion Post 141 of Mt. Vernon, IL. Burial will be for the family at Harmony Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, c/o Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
