John S. Johnson
John S. JOHNSON, was born Sept. 8th, 1847, in Jefferson county Illinois and died at his home in Shiloh township January 19th, 1899, after an illness of two weeks of pneumonia. He was married to Miss Sarah E. Warren, daughter of David H. Warren, Oct. 9th, 1878, who died June 5th, 1883. To them two children were born Gertrude and Charley, the latter died in infancy. His second marriage was to Miss Alice L. M. Hershey, daughter of Daniel Hershey, to this union four children have been born, Thomas, Inez, Hazel and Lily, who with their mother survive to mourn their loss. Johnny, as he was familiarly called, was converted when a young man 17 or 18 years of age and joined the Methodist Church. His funeral was conducted at Pleasant Grove Church at 10 o'clock Jan. 21, 1899 by his pastor, the writer, and his body interred in Old Union Cemetery.J. C. Kinison. Source: Mt.
